Bedreigde loodgieter uit Vlaardingen Ron van Uffelen overleden

Vlaardingen plumber Ron van Uffelen passed away today. Van Uffelen’s lawyer announced this in a press release. “The cause of death is apparently medical,” writes lawyer Richard Korver.

According to Rijnmond , Van Uffelen was rushed to the hospital last Saturday with heart problems. “The family is shocked and asks everyone to respect their privacy while they try to understand this totally unexpected and great loss,” writes lawyer Korver.

The plumber has been in the news a lot in the past year because he was repeatedly the target of attacks on himself, his business premises, cars and home. A firebomb was also thrown into his family members’ homes.

His house was closed several times by order of the mayor and Van Uffelen was temporarily banned from the area. The attacks and attempted attacks caused a lot of unrest among local residents. Early last month, the plumber was allowed to return to his house.

Reward of 50,000 euros

Police have arrested several people, one of whom has been sentenced to fourteen months in prison.

The suspects and the convicted have not released anything about a motive or the person who ordered the attacks. Van Uffelen himself also said he did not know why he was the target of the attacks.

The Public Prosecution Service has offered a reward of 50,000 euros for the “golden tip” that leads to the arrest of the person who ordered the attacks on the Vlaardingen plumber. At that time, there had been 23 explosions or attempted explosions, the Public Prosecution Service wrote.

Van Uffelen’s home was closed for safety reasons after the many violent incidents that had taken place there. On 1 July, the mayor of the South Holland town decided that the plumber and his family would be allowed to return to their home. He saw no reason to extend the closure, which ran until 2 July.

In addition to his home, vehicles and business premises belonging to the plumber and his family were targeted in violent incidents. It is not known what prompted the violence.

Earlier this month, a sixteen-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of involvement in an explosion on March 30. The explosion took place in a garage of the Vlaardingen plumber.
